Wineries across Western Washington County will join more than 100 others in the Willamette Valley to showcase new and signature blends and extend tasting hours during Memorial Day Weekend, one of the busiest of the year in Wine Country.

The weekend is special for wineries open year-round, as well.

In Cornelius, Ardiri Winery and Vineyards will celebrate its third year with meat and chocolate pairings from local artisans at their tasting room and patio overlooking the Chehalem foothills.

“It’s a pretty laid-back atmosphere,” said Árdíri’s Joscelyn Zell of the covered patio with fire pits and picnic tables.

Árdíri wines, chiefly pinot noir, are made from grapes in the Willamette Valley as well as Carneros, Calif.

Zell said the vineyard’s presence in the wine community has grown steadily, thanks in large part to word of mouth spread by those who visit during open weekends.

Wineries also gain traction by working with others in the region for wine loops and other collaborative events, Zell said.

“When people go out, they want to have an experience,” she said. “They’re making a day of it. [The wineries] are trying to promote the wine tasting experience and directing traffic to one another’s tasting rooms. Everyone really comes together.”
